FISA Foundation

 

 

The Federation of Independent School Alumnae (FISA) is a non-profit organization set to empower women in community activism and development. Dr. Cindy Tananis works with the FISA Foundation on various evaluation projects throughout a given year.The FISA Foundation, founded in 1911, seeks to build a culture of respect and improve the quality of life for women, girls, and people with disabilities in Western Pennsylvania.  As the largest grant making foundation in the country governed by women, The FISA Foundation advocates for women, girls, and people with disabilities through charity and outreach, providing financial support to nonprofit organizations in the region. The FISA Foundation seeks to address community needs by providing access to health care and dental care, accessibility to and inclusion in local arts organizations, AIDS/HIV awareness, public school inclusion, and domestic violence and sexual assault awareness. Since 1996, The FISA Foundation has awarded over $18 million in grants to approximately 321 nonprofit organizations in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland counties in Pennsylvania.
