University of Pittsburgh, Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences: Summer Melt Project (2018-present)

In 2018-2019 CEAC worked with the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences to evaluate the degree to which accepted students fail to matriculate due to financial obstacles. In the fall of 2018, the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences undertook the “Getting off to a Good Start: Removing socio-economic barriers to enrollment” project, funded by a mini-grant from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. The purpose of the project is to determine the degree to which accepted students fail to matriculate due to financial obstacles. this project seeks to first, research the degree to which the problem of student melt, particularly with students from under-represented groups, exists here at Pitt, and second, develop programming to assist these students who might otherwise not matriculate to Pitt.
