United Way of Allegheny County's implementation of the ACT Against Violence - Parents Raising Safe Kids Program (ACT Curriculum). The ACT Curriculum is a national, research-based initiative designed by the American Psychological Association to educate families and communities to create safe, healthy environments that protect children and youth from violence. The program trains groups of parents and caregivers of young children in topics such as effective parenting, nonviolent discipline, anger management and problem-solving, effects of media violence on young children, and methods to protect children from exposure to violence.
